2023’s Top 100 LA Comics to Watch (100-81)
99. Reid Brackenbury
Reid is still roommates with Josh Edelman which I’d imagine can be a bit much at times. However, I can see him moving out by the end of 2023 once the dump trucks full of Netflix cash starts rolling in. I have a feeling that’s gonna be soon. Just keep tightening that Fountains of Wayne bit.

97. Cid Williams
Cid Williams is getting better and better and better every time I see him. He’s been getting those cold opens at my home club the World-Famous Hollywood Improv and I couldn’t be prouder to have watched the process that got him there.

95. Christopher Waitkus
I love seeing Chris get up at the Thursday mic at Fanatic Salon whenever I stick around to watch other people’s sets which I typically don’t. Gotta get those minutes. Some of us have album recordings to worry about.

92. Lukas Mateus
Lukas Mateus has been killing it at the bar mics at Flappers. There’s no denying that. I’m excited to see what’s in store for this lovable Clevelandnite and avid fan of hardcore punk music in 2023! Are you excited, Lukas Mateus?

91. Devyn Perry
Devyn Perry is a hilarious comic and has an incredible year to look forward to. I see plenty of doors opening for her by 2024. That and I’m afraid of her. That’ll come into play much later. I promise. Lots of crescendos to look forward to starting at around #40. Just enjoy the ride for now.

89. Ryan Clark
Ryan Clark is an undeniably funny comedian who’s been getting those coveted cold opens at my home club the World-Famous Hollywood Improv. Also my Instagram got hacked by someone pretending to be him. If you could follow the new Instagram @ianirarousso so I could rebuild my empire, that would be great. Also his band, Mad Peaceful, kinda rips.

88. Joshua Snyder
When I announced Sorry Again, I did the Flappy Hour auditions in the bar. I had a really good set, there’s no denying that, but on the patio afterwards, Josh told me the club was still mad at me and he suggested a written apology. This seems like an appropriate avenue to do it. Josh, I’m sorry about the time I bought my own roll of tickets and started stuffing the bucket with my name a million times. Though it was hilarious which I stand by, I did set a bad precedents for other comics to do the same and put Flappers in an uncomfortable position in terms of how to handle the gag which is uncool considering you guys have a comedy club and restaurant to run. The honest to god truth is this, it’s popular for comics to dunk on Flappers and it’s that kind of lazy jaded thinking there’s too much of in the internet age. Fuck that. I’ve been going to the mics, been having all the fun in the world, the food easily rivals my home club’s the World-Famous Hollywood Improv and above all, your staff has been nothing but wonderful to me. I appreciate stuff like that. If we’re ready to squash our beef, I’m ready to light up audiences in the YooHoo Room or wherever you deem fitting. You know I’m a far better comic and person than I was 4 years ago. I know I sucked. I have enough self awareness to know that. And beyond the fact that I have an album recording to prepare for, I don’t like causing people distress and if I caused you any, I don’t feel good about it, even after all these years. Love ya Josh, ya little scamp!

86. Earl Skakel
Not only is Earl Skakel funny as fuck, but he’s also cool as shit. He’s also hosting January 28th when I run my debut comedy album at Oeno Vino. Get your tickets. Also he did my podcast with his civilian friend Gary Cannon. We should sign Gary up for an open mic night as a gag. The audience would totally hate us.
81. Cat Alvarado
Cat recorded her debut comedy album early last month, got passed at The Comedy & Magic Club, and she booked a commercial. How cool is that? That being said, who the shit could possibly rank higher than LA comedy’s absolute gem of a comedian and soul, Cat Alvarado? Click next to find out!
